Who needs to sit the UCAT?
For those students who are planning to apply to medical or dental degree courses at certain UK and International Universities, UCAT is a compulsory entry requirement. A full list of universities requiring UCAT can be found at https://www.ucat.ac.uk/about-ucat/universities/.
Candidates who have sat the UCAT in a previous year and have not met the necessary course prerequisites, may sit the UCAT again. The UCAT can only be sat once a year, but can be sat over multiple years.
What is the difference between UCAT UK v UCAT ANZ?
UCAT is used by most universities in the UK, Australia and New Zealand to select candidates for entry into medicine and dentistry. Candidates who are not considering applying to Australia and New Zealand should sit the UCAT UK. Candidates applying for UK and/or Australian and New Zealand universities should sit the UCAT ANZ. UCAT ANZ has a shorter time frame for booking tests (July – mid August) as results need to come out earlier than the UK, to meet Australian and New Zealand university admission requirements. It is also important to realise that Australian and New Zealand universities only accept UCAT ANZ results. However, candidates cannot sit UCAT UK and UCAT ANZ in the same test cycle.
The structure content of UCAT UK and UCAT ANZ is the same.
